Day 1. JOHANNESBURG to MALELANE, SOUTH AFRICA (D)
Welcome to South Africa! Upon arrival at O.R. Tambo International Airport, you will be met and assisted to check in for your domestic flight to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (flight excluded). Upon arrival at Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, you will be met and transferred to Serenity Eco Reserve.
Day 2. GOLF @ LEOPARD CREEK (weekdays only) (B/D)
Working closely with the Kruger National Park and nature conservation authorities, the Leopard Creek golf course was specifically designed to blend in with the surroundings, providing sophisticated leisure amenities in an undisturbed natural environment. A paradise for bird-watchers and a challenge for golfers, the cool shade of indigenous trees at Leopard Creek Golf Course, some hundreds of years old, are home to over 200 bird species. Abundant wildlife including the big five, lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo can be viewed from open landrovers or on guided walking trails, accompanied by qualified game rangers.
Innovative architectural and landscaping techniques ensure that the Leopards Creek golf course and living areas are naturally protected from animals, while lakes and small streams have been diverted through the development to create scenic vistas and interesting golf strategies. Golfing hazards take on a new dimension at Leopard Creek, for much of the water is home to families of hippos and the magnificent creatures for which the river is named, crocodiles.
The 510 meter par-five fourth is one of Leopard Creek’s most memorable holes. Here the green is right on the edge of the Crocodile River bur 32 meters above the level of the water, offering magnificent views up the river and into the Kruger Park. Elephant are often seen walking alongside the river. Gary Player is especially proud of the par-five 18th with its island green and the par-four ninth with its peninsula green jutting out of the same body of water which, incidentally, is home to a number of hippo.
Day 3. MALELANE to KRUGER NATIONAL PARK (B/L/D)+2 Game Activities
This morning after breakfast, you will be collected and transferred to Jock Safari Lodge, situated in the Kruger National Park. Here you will spend the following two nights.
Day 4. KRUGER NATIONAL PARK (B/L/D)+2 Game Activities
Today is spent enjoying all the activities that the lodge has to offer. Early morning game drives start with a wakeup call between 05h00 and 06h00; tea and coffee is served in the lounge before heading for your game drive. Leave in time to catch the sunrise & great animal viewing. Return to camp by 9am and enjoy a hearty breakfast. Join guided Walking safaris after breakfast where game rangers offer fauna and flora lectures and magnificent rock art viewing. Each topic is discussed and guests are welcome to set the pace as they wish. There is of course always the good possibility of game viewing on these outings. Lunch and relaxation time is enjoyed until the big game drive starts in the late afternoon.
Day 5. KRUGER NATIONAL PARK to BALLITO via KRUGER Mpumalanga International airport (B)
After your early morning game activity and breakfast, you will be collected from the lodge and transferred to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport for your flight to Durban (flight excluded). Upon arrival at Durban International Airport, you will be met and transferred to Zimbali Lodge.
Day 6. GOLF @ SELBORNE (B)
Selborne is perfectly positioned on the sub-tropical coast of KwaZulu Natal, and is surrounded by the beautiful, well established Selborne golf course. Selborne was built in the grounds of an old colonial home and is now one of the top courses in South Africa. The bird-life, lush vegetation and abundance of water make for a beautiful setting. Selborne has built a reputation as the “Augusta of South Africa”. This beautifully manicured and maintained 18-hole, par 72 golf course provides a challenge for the more proficient golfer whilst also offering the social player an enjoyable round. With its natural forests and trails, Selborne is rated as one of South Africa’s most scenic courses. There are water features on the 15 and 18 holes. There is a resident golf professional available for those who need to brush up on some of their skills.
Day 7. GOLF @ ZIMBALI (B)
Zimbali is well known for its stunning 18-hole golf course. It offers a challenging round of golf of world-class standards and stunning views. The Zimbali Golf Coastal Resort Course varies. Starting off with a coastal links feel, the course takes a dramatic turn through rough rolling wetlands and ends up in the Zimbali Coastal forest. The course is also a tough walk but fortunately golf carts are compulsory!
Most of the tees are high on the side of hills or sand dunes. The fairways cut through the valley and the greens, seemingly always at the bottom of the next hill. This makes judging distance a time consuming task, especially for those playing this golf course for the first time!
Tom Wieskopf, the designer of this Northern KwaZulu-Natal masterpiece and past winner of the British and SA Open championship, stays true to his philosophy of providing a fair challenge to golfers of any level.
Day 8. BALLITO to ZULULAND (B/L/D)+1 Game Activity
This morning after a scrumptious breakfast, you are collected and transferred to the Zululand of KwaZulu Natal. Spend the following two nights at Isibindi Zulu Lodge.
Day 9. ZULULAND (B/L/D)+1 Game Activity
A full day is spent enjoying lodge activities. The main lodge set amongst huge Buffalo Thorn Trees and dolorite boulders boasts a homely lounge with a large fireplace, a library, a unique bar carved out of a Wait-a-Bit Thorn Tree, a swimming pool with a view and spacious verandah. The privately set swimming pool has breathtaking views over the game reserve. Guests gather around the bar in the evenings to recall the day’s safari on the Anglo-Zulu Battlefields or a game walk on the game reserve. Isibindi Zulu Lodge takes pride in its cuisine and has developed a reputation for its unique presentation of South African fare. Breakfasts and lunches are either served al fresco at the swimming pool or on the verandah.
Day 10. ZULULAND to DURBAN Airport (B)
This morning you are wished a fond farewell as you are collected from the lodge and transferred back to Durban International Airport for your onward flight.
